Single courses
Students and professionals may enroll in single courses for professional training, for personal enrichment, or for credit transfer to another program. Non-degree courses may either be audited or taken for a letter grade. Students who want to transfer credits from AGS to another program must take the course for a letter grade. Auditing students are not required to hand in written assignments or sit for exams, but are expected to do all required reading, attend all classes, and fully participate in class discussions.
Students may choose the courses they wish to attend in the Current Course Offering. See also the Graduate Course Catalog for course descriptions.
Transferring to a degree program at AGS
Courses followed as single courses or as part of a Certificate program can be transferred to a full degree-program (M.A. or Ph.D.) at AGS, or to another institution depending on the institution's transfer policy.
To change from the non-degree program to a full M.A. or Ph.D. program at AGS, students must make a formal request to the Academic Committee.
Note: Students enrolled in non-degree programs, including the Certificate program, are not eligible for U.S. Federal Loans.
