Dr. David Pike Invited to Speak in the US, Italy, Portugal, and France |

Dr. David Pike, our faculty specialist of contemporary history and the author of many books on World War II and the Spanish Civil War, has been invited to share his expertise with audiences in multiple countries over the past few months. On April 3-4, Dr. Pike was invited by Minnesota State University to give three talks: "The role of Spain in the Second World War," "The King versus the Constitution: British support for American resistance, 1766-1783," and "The SS archipelago." More information on the MNSU website Also in April, he spoke at the Sandhurst Conference in the UK, in the series "1944: Seventy Years On," on the subject of "The final year in the worst of all camps." See conference program In July Dr. Pike will attend a conference in Castellammare di Stabia in Italy (south of Naples) to speak on "The Channel Islands under Nazi occupation," and in November in Lisbon, Portugal he will speak on French policy toward Spain in 1936-1939. On October 11, 2014, he is invited by the Mayor of Paris, France to speak at the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall), during aan event celebrating the role of the Spanish Republicans in the Resistance in France and the liberation of Paris. |
